Advergame
An advergame is a game built solely to promote a specific brand, product or event. It will usually be built with Flash and delivered online.
Brand
A brand is a name or symbol that is commonly known to identify a company or it’s products and separate them from the competition.
CGI
The Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is a standard protocol for interfacing external application software with an information server, commonly a web server.
CGI-BIN
The most common name of a directory on a web server in which CGI programs are stored.
Content Management System (CMS)

Cross-platform
(also known as multi-platform). A computer software or web application is cross-platform if it runs on several computer platforms e.g. Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X.

Google AdWords is an advertising product of Google that offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. AdWords campaigns can be distributed in a local, national, and international network.
.htaccess file
A .htaccess file is a configuration file that is placed inside the web tree, and configures access control (e.g. requiring a password to access the content) and other configuration settings, mostly related to content control.
Hosting
A web hosting service allows you to publish your website on the World Wide Web.
IP address
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique identifier for a point or host connection on an IP network. The role of the IP address has also been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there.
Meta Data
Metadata is structured data which describes the characteristics of a resource. Every website page contains meta information that describe the contents and other properties of your website.
Module
A module is a group of functionalities. Regarding the QMGcms there are modules like the "File Manager" or "Page Editor" that allow you to upload/edit/delete files or pages of your website.
News Ticker
A news ticker is a space on a website that displays news headlines or buzz words. These words or phrases are usually animated and run across the screen.
Learning Management System
A Learning Management System (LMS) allows you to create online learning courses, manage learning materials and create assessments. A student can log in to a dedicated student area and enrol into courses, view learning materials and take assessments. Assigned tutor can then mark assessments and communicate with their students and view reports on their progress.
Organic search engine listings
These are result listings from a search engine that are ranked by the search engine different to paid search results.

Perl is a dynamic programming language, version 5.
PHP
PHP is a server based programming language that was designed for web development, to produce dynamic content. It can be embedded into HTML.
PHPMyAdmin
PHPMyAdmin is an open source tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the World Wide Web. It can perform various tasks such as creating, modifying or deleting databases, tables, fields or rows; executing SQL statements; or managing users and permissions.
POP3 Email account
POP3 is the abbreviation for Post Office Protocol, the most common method for receiving emails. The email server will store your emails until you use your email software to download them.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
A protocol specified by Netscape that allows for "secure" passage of data. It uses public key encryption, including digital certificates and digital signatures, to pass data between a browser and a server.
SQL
SQL (Structured Query Language) is a database language designed for managing data in relational database management systems.
Subdomains
A subdomain is a name given to a separated section of your website, split by a name placed before the main domain. Eg. testing.qmg.com.au.
Vector
As opposed to raster graphics, vector graphics are composed of groups of coloured lines. Vector graphics are saleable without loosing visual quality.
Viral games
A viral game is usually built with Flash and delivered online. Apart from being addictive, it’s other main purpose is the ability to send the game to a friend or encourage the user to tell someone else about the game. This causes the game to spread exponentially and increase the brand awareness of the product, event or promotion advertised in the game.
Webalizer
Webalizer is an application that generates detailed reports, charts and graphs on who has visited your website and usage logs
WYSIWYG
Pronounced "wiz-ee-wig". Acronym for "What You See Is What You Get". A term used to describe an application that enables the end-user to visualise how the page will look on the screen as it is being created.
